Highlights for Wine Lovers

Wine city to enjoy

(djd/HMG). It lies in the midst of a magnificent landscape directly on the Neckar, is the oldest wine town in Württemberg and, with a vineyard area of 500 hectares, one of the largest German wine-growing communities: Heilbronn is the perfect place for gourmets. During the Heilbronn Wine Summer between June and October, the Käthchenstadt offers a particularly wide range of wine-related activities.

Chill-out for wine lovers

Guests can experience an atmospheric open-air flair at the wine pavilion on the Neckar stage, for example. There, with a view of the Neckar, they can taste the fine wines of the Wein-Villa partners and small dishes à la Swabian tapas. The summer can also be enjoyed in the wine garden of the Heilbronn cooperative winery – with delicious food and drinks and a magnificent view of the vineyards. In the lively city centre, wine is present in many ways in innovative and stylish wine bars. More than 100 wines to tap yourself at the SITT wine bar in the Deutschhof, at the wine address in the Bahnhofsvorstadt, near the market square at the Bottle Shop and LUDWIG, in the historic meat house at the Pfeffers or in the butcher’s shop at the Geiger brothers.

Feel-good spot: the Wengerthäusle on the Wartberg

For those who want to taste wine where it grows, a guided wine hike with tasting among the sunlit vines is recommended – or a walk along the Wine Panorama Trail. The six-kilometre-long educational trail leads through the vineyards up to the Wartberg, where a wonderful view of the city awaits. 24 information boards along the route illuminate viticulture in all its facets. The Martin-Heinrich-Wengerthäusle on the Wartberg invites you to make an enjoyable stop.

Farm festivals and special wine tastings

During the wine summer between June and October, around 30 wineries in the city offer atmospheric courtyard festivals, special wine tastings and other wine events. In the light room of the Fischer winery’s wine lounge on the Stiftsberg, for example, you can learn how colours affect your sense of taste, and the Albrecht-Kiessling winery opens its doors for the open-air event “AfterWork with Viola”. A visit to the traditional Heilbronn Wine Village, a guided tour of the city around wine & culinary delights or a tractor safari in the Wartberg: there are many other ways to experience Württemberg’s grape juice.

Upcoming Events

Everything there that makes life worth living

Since the Federal Horticultural Show 2019 at the latest, Heilbronn has been known as a lively city on the Neckar. The landscape is captivating, with gentle vineyards extending to the outskirts of the city, the Neckar in the centre and recreational areas such as the Köpfertal and extensive city parks. The green city offers a high recreational value, for residents and visitors alike.

Relaxing by the Neckar

With a population of around 126,000, Heilbronn is cosy, but at the same time exudes urban flair with a wide range of cultural institutions, gastronomy and a lively city centre. Heilbronn residents and visitors alike can unwind on the gastronomic mile along the Neckar. While inline skaters and cyclists make their way between tables and parasols on the banks of the Neckar, stand-up paddlers and rowers conquer the river alongside pedal boats and excursion boats.

The city never stands still

Heilbronn is one of the most dynamic cities in Germany. For about ten years now, increasingly renowned educational and research institutions have been settling in the capital of world market leaders. Currently, the Baden-Württemberg Innovation Park for Artificial Intelligence is being built in Heilbronn at an impressive pace.

Technology freaks take note!

Heilbronn is home to Germany’s largest science centre. The experimenta invites young and old to tinker and try things out on around 25,000 square metres – with interactive exhibits, creative studios, laboratories, an observatory and an extraordinary Science Dome with spectacular science shows.

Wine tasting and wine walking in and around the city

Wine has been grown here for more than 1255 years. This makes Heilbronn the oldest wine town in Württemberg. Naturally, this has left its mark on the city’s culture. There are many pleasurable experiences to be had: The best place to experience Heilbronn wine is where it grows, for example at the wine bar on the Wein Panorama Weg on the Wartberg. But there are also numerous opportunities to experience Heilbronn’s passion for wine in the city centre with the wine pavilion at the Neckarbühne or the classicist Wein Villa with its own vinotheque and around 30 wineries.
